Changing Clubs
The
Club Chairman sent this email to all club members in November 2006 in order
to clarify the situation about resigning from Alton Runners and joining a
new club.
Dear Alton Runner,
There has recently been
some confusion about the rules governing the change of running club for
those who compete in races. Since we belong to UK Athletics and enter teams
to a variety of UK permitted cross country and road races we are bound to
follow their rules – here is a brief synopsis:
-
Resignation must be made to the Club in
writing (rule 3.7) [for those
leaving
Alton Runners this
can be made to me, Roger or Dave Sherwood]
-
Transfer from one club to another must
be registered on a standard form which is sent to the Association
eligibility committee and the UKA (Rule 6.4)
[Roger keeps a stock of these forms
which are also available on the UKA website]
-
The ex-member is then ineligible to
compete for another club for six months “or a period of partial or total
exemption under those rules”. (Rule 3.1)
-
Relaxation of this period of
ineligibility may be made if there has been change of residence,
inadequate of facilities by the original club, welfare issues, or when
the original club gives written support to the move.(Rule 6.6)
The period of ineligibility is not usually applied to vets.
I hope that this clarifies
the matter
Hugh
